This first issue of 2026 will allow you to discover our Drug Discovery Center, which will bring together all its components in March 2026 in a completely renovated building and redesigned for its activity, particularly the synthetic chemistry department. This research unit, specific to the Pasteur Institute of Lille, allows, based on the work of all our other research teams, to to create and model molecules and chemical components for therapeutic purposes. Consolidating its operations will thus guarantee greater efficiency for develop drug candidates the most promising ones capable of reaching patients and offering them hope for a cure.

Viruses, microbiota, environmental factors: their roles in Alzheimer's disease
In the world more than 55 million of people are affected by dementia. Alzheimer's disease, at the beginning of 60 to 70% of cases, is the most common cause of dementia. It is a multifactorial disease. While some factors such as age or genetic predisposition are unmodifiable, there are also environmental risk factors that can be modified if addressed, such ashigh blood pressure, diabetes, smoking, sedentary lifestyle.

Alzheimer's Disease Dossier (October 2024)
Worldwide, more than 55 million people suffer from dementia, nearly 70% of whom have a form called Alzheimer's disease. This "memory disease" currently affects 1,2 million people in France, and this number is expected to triple by 2050 due to the aging population. It is thus often considered the disease of the century. Of all the age-related illnesses that the teams at the Pasteur Institute of Lille combat daily, Alzheimer's disease is undoubtedly one of those with the greatest impact on families.

Heart & Liver: A Dangerous Liaison. The heart and liver work in tandem to ensure functions essential to our life and health. Although located in different parts of our body, these two organs are closely linked by various physiological mechanisms such as blood circulation and metabolic balance. When the liver malfunctions, it can affect cholesterol and blood sugar levels, thus increasing the risk of heart diseases such as atherosclerosis and hypertension.
