Madeleine is a scientific project et innovative citizen dedicated to understanding the vaginal microbiota across generations. Conducted in collaboration with the PiLeJe Foundation, Pasteur Institute et the Pasteur Institute of LilleIt aims to advance research and prevention in women's intimate health.

This project has a dual objective: both a citizen study and an information campaign on the vaginal microbiotaIt relies on the expertise of a multidisciplinary scientific committee bringing together researchers and clinicians recognized in the field of microbiota and women's health.

Inspired by Isala projectInitiated at the University of Antwerp, Madeleine allows France to join an international research dynamic dedicated to the vaginal microbiota, an essential ecosystem still insufficiently studied despite its key role in health balance and prevention.

An original scientific objective

The main objective of the study is to explore the vaginal microbiota under a intra- and intergenerational angle, in order to better understand the influence of heredity and the family environment regarding its composition.

For this purpose, 210 women will be included in the study, divided into 70 family triads covering three generations, in order to analyze the transmission and similarities of the vaginal microbiota within the same lineage. This innovative approach opens up new perspectives for the research and prevention in women's health.

A simple and accessible protocol

Lasting approximately one month, the Madeleine study was designed to be minimally invasive and accessible to as many people as possible. The protocol includes:

This organization facilitates participation while ensuring the scientific rigor of the data collected.

Research and awareness

Beyond clinical research, Madeleine carries a ambition to raise awareness around the vaginal microbiota and intimate health, helping to better inform, prevent and lift the taboos still present around these subjects.

Madeleine asserts herself as a collective project scientific et citoyen, serving research, prevention and women's health at every stage of their lives.
